Show-Me Sports Legacies
Show-Me Sports Legacies takes a story approach to learning about high school, junior college, D2 & D1 college sports and our beloved professional franchises in Kansas City and St. Louis. We talk to people who have made their mark as coaches, players, scouts, officials and business people after coming from small towns or little known communities or neighborhoods. We talk to people who are seeking to establish their reputation and break into sports career success. With a fan's perspective we look at how to encourage and support people who have that sporting dream.

Sierra Michaelis: Small Town, Big Dreams
Sierra Michaelis started her basketball dream in the small town of Mercer, Missouri (population 263 as of 2020!). Through youth basketball and high school she was an offensive juggernaut; scoring 3710 points to become the 2nd all-time leading scorer in Missouri girls high school basketball history! Her team finally broke the "Mercer Curse" to make the Final Four in her senior year of 2013. She went on to a significant leadership role as a 3 year starter and one of the cornerstone pieces in the first two years of an unprecedented four year run for Missouri Women's Basketball under Coach Robin Pingeton. Sierra now coaches part-time in Columbia, Missouri and is Co-Director of The Crossing's High School Youth Program where she is leading an April 5th, 2025 conference, "Called To Be" for girls 14 to 18 years of age. Hear her path from small town to big time SEC women's basketball and her continued journey to help teenagers cope with their mental health challenges and spiritual needs!
