Greg Groggel Likes to Tell Stories! How a Kid Followed His Olympic Dream to Become an Emmy Winning Film Producer

Jeff Crowley, Host, Kris Ockenfels, Co-Host Season 2 Episode 17

Greg Groggel had an Olympic Dream that blossomed into a career as an Emmy winning Film Producer.  Currently VP Unscripted/Skydance Sports, Greg has won 5 Emmys, most recently as Producer for the Netflix hit "The Redeem Team". In this episode he shares how the story of the 2008 Olympic U.S. Men's Basketball Team winning a Gold Medal in Beijing came together!  Greg tells us stories of his passionate pursuit of the Olympics including a 1996 family cross country trip to the Atlanta Olympics, a summer volunteer job driving athletes at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece for ESPN, and a year long Thomas J. Watson research fellowship traveling to six Olympic sites around the world.  All these experiences led to opportunities with NBC and the Olympic Channel and later his work as a Film Producer, now with Skydance Sports.   Add in his connection to Trenton, Missouri with his mother's family (the Hoffmans) and her role in expanding his world through encouragement and support of his Olympic dreams and you have a compelling and fast paced episode!
